The Gambling Act 2005

As of the 1st September 2007 the Gambling Act 2005 will become law, replacing the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976. From the 1st September all raffles will fall under the new legislation.Under the old act the regulations were rarely checked, let alone enforced. This will not be the case under the new act. The Gambling Commission have stated that they will be rigorously enforcing all aspects of the Gambling Act 2005.

From this date it will be an offence under the terms of the Act to use a supplier to facilitate any part of your raffle or lottery who is not a registered External Lottery Manager (ELM). A breach of this condition may result in a society or organisation losing its operating license as granted by the Gambling Commission.

The Woods Group has invested to become a licensed ELM so you can rest assured that from 1st September you will be dealing with a company fully licensed to handle all aspects of your raffle.
